History and heritage

The origin of Zuana

"Before it was the Sea, Zaku Kuareiumanei Ati was the mother of all water currents. The wise inventors, Mama Zuana and Mama Sonas, were the ones who turned it into the sea. They both dug a well and went around in a circle while pouring the water, infusing it with his spirit. They made four trips to bring water, which multiplied and expanded to the four corners of the world, in the middle of the hills.

According to the law of the Arhuacos, all the men, animals and birds that embellish the earth are contained in the Sea. There are also all the plants and remedies that cure crises and diseases. Therefore, nature is precious."

This beautiful myth of the Zuana, and tradition of the Ika language, has been the inspiration for our hotel and transports us to the incredible history of the eternal inhabitants of the area. Zuana Resort pays an emotional tribute to the thousands of years of culture, traditions, art and heritage of the Arhuacos and the Zuana, giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself in their enriching legacy.
